Re: Throttle body

Junkyards here seem to be a great thing of the past.
H&S covid and "climate change" have ensured they are nearly all closed.
Never the less the Bosch valve looks just the job.
I guess if l blocked a few ports l could do away with all of the standard cold start/idle gubbins too?

Re: Throttle body

Really interesting stuff.
I might look into that Bosch valve and try to find an ingenious way to feed it into the throttle body via the existing port.
Any ideas on this?
Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know if there is a throttle body (or attachment to) that will fit a 4age plenum and allow electronic idle control?

Re: brake options for daily fun car

Once everything is working as it should fill the system with a really good brake fluid, l use Castrol SRF and it never gives any problems. Bleed the brakes before every track day. I use standard size grooved discs and Mintex M1166 pads on the front, 1144's on the back. Braking is good and fade free ...

Whilst l know (or thought l knew) what igf does l wondered if anyone knows what it actually monitors as a return to the ecu? Re: Distributor drive

Thanks Jondee. Good call on the reference mark, used both for depth and tooth position. I know that the pin type can be fitted 180° out and the distributor will only just have enough adjustment to get the timing required. Been there, done that! Pressing the drive on makes sense, if it should come lo...

disconnect the plug at the ECU and disconnect the plugs at the injectors turn the meter on tone connect one side to wire harness 10 and then prob the injector plugs one at the time see when you have tone if they are connected in the harness you will get tone 4 times (one on each plug) good luck Sor...

Re: Budget build cheats.

Cam timing adjustments to suit the type of competition and with a twin cam engine this can be quite effective. Raise fuel rail pressure using internal pipe restriction (to help engine cooling if you are closing the exhaust valve early as above) The best low down power l ever got was by doing a compr...

A simple continuity test reveals that on a U.K (map) car #10 and #20 injection outputs are linked in the loom, one trigger from either output fires all four injectors at the same time.

Re: Batch injection

The Freedom ECU should be able to drive the injectors separately. A little wire work and a few keystrokes and you're in business. That is assuming you're using the programmable ECU. Group firing with the Freedom should be relatively easy then 8-) What l'm trying to ascertain is if the injector outp...

Re: Batch injection

That's quite interesting about the outputs being linked in the ecu, l have just checked a Freedom ecu (l don't have a standard ecu) and the outputs are not linked internally. If the linking is done in the loom as the diagram suggests, would it just be case of doing a continuity test between the inje...

Batch injection

I'm still using the standard wiring loom in my car and l'm once again trying a different ecu.
From the Toyota workshop manual wiring diagram it looks as if all 4 injectors are wired to fire together even though there are two injector outputs labelled for different cylinders.
Can anyone confirm this?

Great thank you Jondee.
On a 4 cylinder engine the distributor sensors represent cylinder 1 and 4 l guess.
This might be easier to go wasted spark with a coil pack as opposed to coil on plug.

Igniter

After some experimentation it seems the direct igt output from the ecu will drive internal igniter type coil on plug coils. The issue of course is that there is just the one igt output. My ecu has the facility to output igd (the same as a 4agze DLI) and the engine will run with coil on plug in waste...

Check to see how much comes out of the engine breather when you rev it to approx 4k in neutral. I would have fitted new rings and honed the bores (as a minimum) before installing the pistons.
