Re: blue top head blacktop bottom?
Im not sure what im looking at but..is that sunk in valve job or something? OST-deshrouded combustion chambers 8-) Look at the sort of crescent shape directly above each valve seat in the first pic. It's been smoothed away. Valve seats might also be 3-angle or sunken in slightly, that I'm not sure.

Re: Are all 4AGE oil pans the same?
That's a pity. Then i'm going to use my own oil pan. I think it won't be a problem to get the dent out. The oil pan of the blacktop i have doesn't have an oil cooler. I wanted to use my 7AFE oil cooler, but it seems that the Blacktop engine doesn't like oil coolers too much. They can cause problems...

Re: Replacement plugs for injectors, smallport TPS?
Thanks! It looks like injector plugs are much easier to find / buy than the rest. At least I have a choice. But Tweaked Performance replied to a comment/question I posted in their topic, and it turns out they sell most of the connectors, including the smallport (rounded) TPS connector. And of course...

I just had a look through your site. Thanks! That ends my search. I'll probably be placing an order this week.

Replacement plugs for injectors, smallport TPS?
So I was rushed and couldn't get the entire harness from the one smallport I've seen in a junkyard over the past year and a half. I ended up cutting as many connectors as I could get before I had to make my purchases before the 'yard closed. (I had pulled the head, IM, and exhaust from that one.) I ...

Re: Not destined to be a razor blade. Saving a GTS hatch
Nice, good on you for saving that hatch! And you're lucky that you could buy that car from the yard. The awful LKQ yards in my area won't do that, although they tend to damage the undercarriage with their forklift.

Re: Quick question about 8.9:1 4A-GZE pistons
No worries! I appreciate any help / advice. I only have a limited knowledge of engines, as I've been reading as much as I can in my spare time for about a year and a half. I've only had a few engines apart, like a RWD bigport 4A-GE, a '97 4A-FE, and a Honda D16z6. The bigport I have uses the 40mm/18...

Re: Quick question about 8.9:1 4A-GZE pistons
OK, thanks. So it gets pressed into the piston, but it 'floats' in the rod? Just seems odd to describe something as floating when it has to be pressed. I thought only the clips held the pin in place. Still learning about engine building...

Quick question about 8.9:1 4A-GZE pistons
I just got my Lithia Toyota order, including my 8.9:1 pistons which include the wrist pins and clips. However, the wrist pin on the one I opened doesn't simply slide into the piston. Am I missing something? I thought the 20mm pins were "floating," not pressed, able to be installed & re...
