Re: I think I broke my AE86
"2) I checked oil cap and i saw a little milky things " Swooki This is a tell tale indicator that you have water in the oil, i.e. head gasket, or worst a cracked head or block. If you want to comfirm the problem before breaking into the engine, take it to a shop and have them do a leak do...

Re: I think I broke my AE86
If the car is not overheating, compression test is good, and it is still smoking. Then there is something else wrong. It could be many things (worn out piston rings, old valve seals, etc). I can speculate all day about it but I would perform a compression test first before moving further. If it loo...

I think I broke my AE86
Hello so I have a 1985 Toyota Corolla GTS. I am new to the car scene and I was swapping out the green coolant for the red one when i remembered my friend suggested that I should put the water hose down from the top hose and water come out the bottom hose... But I realized that wouldn't that crack th...

Hello I noticed today that my car would squeak when i rev in neutral??? could it be because the belt is too loose and losing grip or what could it be? It would barely squeak when i take off only when i rev match. So pretty much rev in neutral. The higher I rev the louder it is. If it is the belt do ...

Re: Horn don't work help?
A test lamp is just a 12V lite with two wires or clips that you can attach any wire to verify that you have current at the the test point. You could actally make one by soliding two wires to a lite bulb. Or buy one at a auto parts. They look like a screw driver with a point on the end and an alliga...

Re: Horn don't work help?
Use a test lamp and see if you have current going into the horn. If you do not see current at the horn check the fuse. If you do not see current, in either of these cases, you have a problem with a plug connection or a broken wire. Odds are pretty low that the horn actually stopped working. Dave W ...

Re: AE86 Rear Windshield wiper connect and front wiper questions
Is this an sr5 to gts conversion? Just a guess but Maybe you have a wiring harness from a coupe? In which it would'nt have any plugs for a rear wiper switch. No this is an original GTS AE88 Vin number (Hatchback). Do you think it's wiring from a coupe? Why would they switch it though? Hmmm....not s...

If i recall correctly the O ring one goes around the thermostat and the other gasket sits between the thermostat housing and the waterpump. 1. I do and just did and never had any issues. If you are that worried torque them to spec like Sgt Rauksauff said. 3. Yes they are iridium tipped. You might want to double check the gaps though. 4. I only used conventional 10/30 and it works for me. Techno Toy Tuning sells Toyota oil filters too. ...

Re: Questions and Spark Plug covered in oil
I'd verify this, because I'm not at home and don't have my books: 1: I think it's small, like 9-10 lb-ft. 2: with "good" gaskets, no. but if you really really want to, a very thin amount in the 'corners' where the camshaft sticks out. 4: I use 0W-30 or 5W30 amsoil synthetic since break-in...

The thermostat could be seized shut. Try that first......you can remove it and put it in some boiling water and see if it opens up before buying a new one. Your oil pressure sensor is located right under your distributor. Clean and tighten the electrical connection.
Odds are a lot lower that it is a pressure relief valve. Dave W

When I removed my AC panel I unclipped the attached cables on the other end, so the unit came out with the 4 cables attached. I think you go in from underneath and spread the clip "prongs" out. Something like that... it has been a while since I've done it. I'm doing that but it just broke...

On the link 2 video you can see that the wiper spindle is moving as it should but the wiper arm is not moving, this suggests that the problem is with the wiper arm rather than the linkage. It may be that the nut is loose or that the splines in the wiper arm are worn and I think that your search for...
