Re: Realistic NA Build HP.

What makes sense is to keep my current turbo setup and send some cash to make it reliable(knock monitoring, and good internals) agreed with this (and yoshi) from the getgo. You're off to a good start imo I'd focus on good tuning above all else . Fix the crankcase breathing too Better internals woul...

Re: Realistic NA Build HP.

that link says nothing technical mumbo jumbo wont do much good. As requested, some specifics would help. show the guy how "not hard to do" it is to reliably track a 4agte...... since he has locked himself into that F20 needs no tuning. Swap them in then go to work. Yes, we can call it the ...

Re: Realistic NA Build HP.

a motor has limits. Physical as well as thermal When "pushed", a smaller boosted motor will reach its limits long before its normally aspirated counterpart Whats to disagree with ? why do u think folks spend so much on a F20c ? Yep, a decent 4agte will outaccelerate it on a short burst Tak...

Re: Realistic NA Build HP.

turbo vs na has everything to do with reliability.... especially on a race track and novice tuned. Stop fooling yourself OEM vs d.i.y. is a poor analogy, and even many hi mileage oem fail at the track..... religiously something as simple as oil drainback or inadequate crankcase venting can wipe out ...

Re: Bigport build advice

I also know for a decent turbo I would spend just as much as I would for what I'm looking at. If I wanted full on power I would have put a rover v8 in the car, as it is my goal is to have it a little faster than new family cars. So increased compression and cams with a few other mods will get me th...

Re: Bigport build advice

kinda why, for a daily driven puny motor, I would steer most folks toward 'boost'. Broad/more torque will bring the fun. A big grin is much harder to wipe off :) Dump a load of cash into a 16v and you'd be lucky to match a BT 20v. Many sr20, rz, uz swaps etc..... begin with the removal of a built 16...

Re: Bigport build advice

make sure u know what you're gettin into..... a normally aspirated 1.6 has to be 'peaky and noisy' just to b "quick" Sux for a daily driver. U may grow tired of it after a while For 2k, it would still b no comparison to a gze(if ya can find one).... or even the most basic entry level d.i.y...

a friend d.i.y. done exactly that on 2 of his cars, no issues. He shaved down the end of the shaft to square shape and stuck a socket on there, that slide over the cam bolt

I am trying to emulate is the fat midrange torque that you get with a large engine, but do it with a small engine and a turbo if u can find "neil8586" 4agte posts on the old forum, he achieved (& detailed) EXACTLY what u described. "v8 torque" megasquirt + tvis + junkyard ih...

no, no, no.... forget what u "heard". Think for yourself Its stretched tires on 13x9s all around, wheels must poke way out, retarded negative camber, horrible induction noises as the painfully slow pos screams 5000 rpm @ 55 mph fartin thru an obnoxiously loud fart can. Then yank out the ac...

thank you! so folks really droppin two grand on 15" rims for ol' carburated rollas ? Wow I like the rims, but for 2k I'd have to 'luv' em. With todays manufacturing abilities, I would probably spend that on somrthing with bigger centers, that looked better ....and perhaps a perfect fitting 15x7...

that center garnish looks like something that the tail lamp manufacturer could make for $60  if the lack of that center piece, is gonna severly limit sales, they may wanna hop to it one huge advantage of the clear light is that you can tint / color / smoke it to your liking First one I saw was ...

a member way back sprayed a set of those ebay lights wuth a red candy?/translucent paint and they looked just as good as any of those oem posted imo. Won't rival oem quality, but I was surprised how good they turned out actually. Probably saved a pix on my laptop.

One thing to note though. If your car sits out in the sun a lot, I probably would advise against the cap since they are thin and would warp from excessive heat.

unless you're in the habbit of using windshield visors (like me). Makes a world of difference

enough power to propell street ae86 to high 13s. Seen a couple detailed on the net a few years back.... which is hella respectable for "moded" stock equipment. All produced from a puny but torquey 1.6L. An unusual blend

if none of the fwd flex plates could work, and ya reeeaalllyy wanted an auto in there...... I guess you could look into having the 4ac flex plate 6 holes plug welded, machined flat then redrilled to 8.
there is a 6/8-hole spacer or shim? there as well. Can't remember if the fwd had one
