Re: New AE86 restomod Daily Driver

LOVE IT. Basically you're combating the lack of air pressure in the mountains by lowering your compression so you can shove more air in there via turbo? Also, good call on overbuilding your motor. I don't understand why people build their motors and push it 110%. They spend more money trying to fix ...

Re: "Kentucky AE86: A Levin Story"

Another minor update (Its finals week and I'm just bored/tired of studying) I paid my insurance for the year, and had some cash left over so I bought a new clutch and water temp gauge via Battle Garage. Now I can finally fix the coolant leak on the backside of the motor, and replace the clutch while...

Good choice on the exhaust! You should post up pics and let us know what you think of it after its installed. I've had my eyes on the HKS Sport for a while now.

Re: CloudStrife's AE88

They do look good, but not as good as an AE86 ;) The fact that its original CW paint and GSR VIN makes it worth a decent chunk of change too! Definitely enough to do a total 20v swap i'd say, or rebuild the f*ck out of your current motor  idk if I've shared this with you or not, but you mig...

Re: CloudStrife's AE88

In my opinion it's idiotic to drop in crate motors used, especially from JY. And if I'm going to do the work on swapping bottom ends, I would rebuild, if I'm rebuilding anyway.... Oh yeah I agree with you 100%, I'm just saying the options of getting your 16v running would be a lot cheaper than star...

if possible I try and get the 4age running( may be cheaper) unless you have the extra funds Yeah cloud I agree with this dude. For the money you would spend swapping in a 20V, you could get your car running AND have plenty left over to build the f*ck out of your current motor. Given that there's no...

Looks like loads of fun!

Hearing the whine of the supercharger is a good little change compared to what the typical AE86 with a 4age sounds like!

Re: CloudStrife's AE88

I don't think I mentioned it, but I have a DC2 GSR. It's really hard to convince myself how great the AE86 is, when it's better handling, better engine, better comfort, and 10x easier to find parts for. Plus, I'm supposed to move to WA here very shortly.. Those things might be true with the GSR ......

No major update really. I noticed after replacing the waterpump it was leaking just a little bit where the o-ring meets the head. Nothing anything major, but enough to be annoying. I had a hard time getting the waterpump mounted so I wouldn't be surprised if I messed up that o-ring a bit. Rather tha...
