Re: 4AGE - J160 and Silvia 6th Gearset Swap
Great success! Cold spell out here in the Bay means perfect time to press on 6th. Heated gear to approx 230F using a hot plate and monitoring temp with a temp gun. I found heating was really uneven on the gear (heating in an oil bath would have netted a more even gear temp...next time); ends of the ...

Re: 4AGE - J160 and Silvia 6th Gearset Swap
It took me a few attempts and a lot of thinking/research, but I finally pulled off 6th main gear today. I tried modifying a set of puller arms, but they ended up breaking gear teeth instead of pulling the gear. (There is only approx. 5mm between 6th gear and the rear output bearing. https://i.imgur....

Re: Aftermarket Bumpers with USDM Bumper Supports?
I know a guy in SCCA who cut the middle of his USDM front bumper bar to fit an aftermarket(?) front bumper. (This probably isnt legal). Because I care about crash safety, I trimmed, cut notches, and boxed in the USDM front crash bar to fit a runfree replica front bumper.

Take a look at the Fortune Auto Coilovers Battle Garage offers. We spent a good amount of time testing and revising the Battle Garage x Swift rear springs (Full spring and coilover spring) which offer a built in progressive spring rate: daily driving comfort with no sacrifice in performance.

Re: oem lsd rebuild kit
Ive used the T3 rebuild kit. I would argue for the Weir kit because it comes with new bronze washers (mine had a fair amount of wear, as I bet most stock LSD's do after 30 years). I run a Tomei TTrax 1.5way now and for the cost of building a diff (gear set up should definitely be left to a professio...

More air flow for the brakes. My 86 sees plenty of track time. Lots of oems either run a brake splash shield without a "lip," or none at all. Thats why I modified mine.

The water pump pulley will work. The p/s pulley lines up if its a silver top (you need shorter or longer belt, I forget)

Depending on how gears are cut, they may exhibit some noise. Easiest example is the "whine" type noise you hear in reverse because the gears are straight cut as opposed to helical.

Re: WTB - MFactory 5th Gear - T50
The last Mfactory 5th was a very limited run group buy, BGRS bought a handful to resell. I just serviced the owner of BGRS' (Grant) T50 and removed his Mfactory 5th. Its the first production run of the gear set (has some gear whine) and is used, but perfect working condition. You might want to inqui...

Mcnsport/Avo shocks are amazing. I had multiple track days/autocross on their double adjustable rear shocks. They are specifically valved for our chassis also; a big reason I choice these over QA1's since these are way over dampened for our chassis. I even just recently purchased a set of their sing...

Re: T50 rebuild - replacement gears?
Gear shifting issues in a T50 are almost always due to worn teeth on the shift sleeves (what you guys are referring to as the "collars." If the dog teeth (where the sleeve engages with) on the gear look ok and the gear teeth itself are not broken or chipped, the gear should be ok to reuse....

BC do but you may be restricted to only using their springs. You can use any rear "coilover type" rear on their perches. On this coilover perch type (spring/shock still separate) the perches are pretty interchangeable beside total height and how the adjustable collar(s) lock in place. You...

If you don't mind, how are you getting the TRD header exempted and which state ref are you going to? I know the ref can one time exempt stuff, for example if you are getting a swap BAR'd. But every time after that, a smog station in the know would ding you for it.
