you can always pull the positive terminal off the battery when the car is running to test to see if the alternator is working...if the car stays running, its good, if not then the alternator is bad...

Re: Adjusting headlight
there is a rod that connects to the motor, all you have to do is disconnect it and reposition it to a desired setting, i believe it is a 14mm bolt...really easy..basically you want the rod and the connecting lever to be both pointing straight with each other when you bolt it in, assuming you have th...

Re: AE86 Issues :(
update - so the i unplug the tps sensor and the idle stabilizes but at a higher rate, around 2k+...could it be that the tps is bad? also the pipe leading from the back of the water pump to the rear of the engine...is it okay to block this pipe off?

Re: AE86 Issues :(
one last question...when i got the car, the pipe leading out the back of the water pump to the valve behind the engine was kinked and the metal pipes were rusted a bit...can this system be blocked off for it to run normally? it seems like it would have something to do with the heater core...but if i...

the one from the mr2/aw11 is exactly the same (considering it came off a 4agze), except the wiring, different connectors coming off the dizzy...you can re-wire it to make it work though.

Re: AE86 Issues :(
Okay so fixed that issue...im still not getting an even idle when the car is warm though...it starts fine and once it warms up the idle fluctuates from 1k rpm to 1.5k rpm over and over...the car doesnt die though. Could this be caused by the fuel pump always being on? Also as a side note i replaced ...

Re: AE86 Issues :(
would a blown head gasket cause that much pressure to build up in the heads? or is it possibly a clogged or blockage in the head? after the car runs for a little while, it starts leaking oil...i will do a talcum test and also remove the cam gear cover to see if it is leaking from there...the car was...

Re: AE86 Issues :(
side note...i did paint the engine bay and the inside frame. The car sat in the rain for a long period of time before I bought it and started restoring it. It is possible i guess that there is a bad ground somewhere but from my research all i can find is that the main ground are from the engine to t...

AE86 Issues :(
Alright guys, i've come to a slight problem on my ae86. Basically, my gauge cluster lights don't work and my fuel pump relay doesn't turn on automatically(I have to open the relay and hold down the copper plate for it to move, so at least i know it is getting power to it). The brake light, check eng...

Re: Non-Op Help
it depends on what state you are in...if it is California, i just did the same thing. After you pay the registration fee ($80 or so) you will have to show proof of insurance and get a star smog test...if that engine isn't supposed to be in that car then you will fail...i put a 4agze block into my ae...

okay i will check them out...basically i am only using the gze block and heads...nothing else that came with that engine...so i assume it would be identical to the 4age minus the compression, I think you have a good point with the injectors being clogged or something though..I did the age old test o...

Re: Engine trouble
could it be the afm? the car was sitting for quite a while, 5 years i think without running...the fuel pump was seized so i dropped the gas tank and replaced that, replaced the fuel filter...I had to reuse the 4age fuel rail and injectors but they looked clean and seem to work...the TVIS itself was ...

Engine trouble
Okay so, I swapped in a 4agze block and heads, transferred the tvis from the 4age so no supercharger on it...so basically the car runs but only if i manually hold the fuel pump relay down and push the throttle...if I let go of either the car bogs out and dies...i set the timing on the dizzy and on t...
