Re: Piston Dilema

Well this is why i asked lol, the non-interference is out and i can live with that for what i want. Really what I'm shooting for is more likely around 13:1-13.5:1 compression. Probably a little bit higher, since i will be removing all the sharp edges of the piston (hence losing some, but minimal cc'...

Re: Piston Dilema

Yoshi- Yes, thank you and sorry about that. I have been a little irritated with people just giving the normal quick response of "can you tune duuuurrrr" lol. But, what i plan on doing is contacting the company (like wiseco or others) and design a custom piston based off there off the shelf...

Piston Dilema

So im in the process of building another motor and i have most of the stuff (new pumps, gaskets, yada yada). Now I'm having a problem with piston choice. Right now I'm looking at Wiseco pistons, I'm shooting for something between 13:1-14:1 compression (This car is already running E85 and megajolt jr...

Yup, nothing beats a well designed plenum. But with carbs you can make ALMOST the same amount of power and, if you are handy enough, it can be cheaper.

I will say this, R1 carbs are crap, the intake you have to make for them to work is worthless.

How about research?? These cars have been around for 30+ years, almost everything and anything has been done to them. The info is out there, quit being lazy.

Re: Brake Woes

I will give that a try, I'm pretty sure that will help. But i think i have to get my rotors turned. They are .03 thicker than the stock rotors, along with the new pads they hit the caliper casting before it even gets to the piston. I put the new pads on with the old rotors and they barely just hit t...

Brake Woes

Ok, so im replacing all the rotors and pads on my car (86 corolla gts) so disk brakes front and back. I bought stop tech rotors and have a set of hawk hps pads and the damn things won't fit lol. I replaced the the right rear rotor and put the brake pads in, then putting caliper back on and the brake...

Re: Where is the love for the AE86.

^ This is all very true and I'm not arguing against that. What ever you do with your car i.e. drift, track, autox, hell even just driving around, there is the inherent risk of damaging your car. The only way for sure to not damage your car is to keep it in a garage and never take it out (but who wan...

While i haven't been in the ae86 community for that long (going on two years now woo!! lol). But right after i bought my corolla, there was a huge surge of "new gen" owners. The thing that saddens me the most, is that they just have no respect for the car. I mean, they are 35+ year old car...

Re: Carbureting the 4AGE essentials

Well as long as it is drivable it should be good, once you get you fuel leak fixed go out and drive it. Because the AFRs will be different with load on the motor. The usual way with these, you do the mains first then work your way to the needle settings. And the lift off "richness" is norm...

Re: Carbureting the 4AGE essentials

Your main jets are not the problem, mains only deal with 3/4 - full throttle. From the video it looks like your barely touching the throttle, and that is all through your needle jet/jet needle. The needle jet/jet needle control your fuel from about 1/4 ~ 3/4 throttle.

^Marvel mystery oil is actually some really good stuff. It loosens carbon build-up REALLY well, but it has to soak, it isn't just some run through and it is instantly clean thing. One thing that comes to mind from reading that article. Is that maybe they want to switch back to the old ways to get people to come to them for work. Re: Buying an ae86 as a first car (again)

Ya, sorry to crush dreams. But what we said will be better in the long run. You want to do some drifting every once in a while, and that means your going to break stuff. No if's, and's, or but's about it; everyone breaks something doing that. So if you start out with an AE86 you will run out of mone...
