Re: Creaking/rattling when making 90* right turns
Tora, that's exactly what it was. I took the rear bumper off, went for a spirited drive, and couldn't replicate the sound. The stock exhaust tip is only a few mm away from the tow hook and I can see where the tow hook is rubbing on the exhaust (slight wear mark). Thank you for posting because I doub...

Re: Creaking/rattling when making 90* right turns
Mine is more of a creaking than a rattling. At first it sounded like something was rolling around in the trunk, but now that the sound is more pronounced it sounds like something is loose. I recently replaced all of the rear sway bar bushings. While I was waiting for the new bushings to come in I re...

Re: Creaking/rattling when making 90* right turns
Interesting, I'll have to take a look. I updated my parts list to reflect that I'm using the oem exhaust.
Edit: FWIW I was rocking the exact same suspension/diff setup on my last corolla (all parts were swapped over), but on the old car I was using a hks sport over axle exhaust. No issues.

Re: Can we talk about some LSD's
A worn lsd will act like an open diff. Since these cars are 25 years old it's also possible that a previous owner swapped the 3rd member/pumpkin.

Creaking/rattling when making 90* right turns
Lately I've been getting a creaking/rattling sound from the rear of my car when making 90* right turns. The sound seems to be coming from the rear passenger side but it's hard to say for sure. I've only noticed it on 90* right turns, and it's more noticeable when taking corners faster. The sound is ...

I've got a black one and it still retracts. The plastic trim piece that the belt passes through on the middle of the pillar is toast though.

The tie rods on the manual rack in that picture won't work. They look like mr2 or fwd corolla tie rods.

^It depends on a few factors such as the model year, part #, and if it's oem, etc. You'll want to look for the mounting points on the housing to be sure.

Re: anyone running a 20v with Meth?
IMO mixing in race gas on a stock naturally aspirated engine is way overkill, especially for street use. If you're doing a track day you could mix some in for piece of mind, but it's really not necessary. Don't expect a bump in power. In this case the only benefit would be raising the knock threshold.

Re: upgrading stock brakes?
Goodridge brake lines are DOT approved and have a lifetime warranty if you buy them from an authorized dealer. I'd stay away from the ebay knock off junk, especially for something vital like brakes.

It's not worth it unless you have a turbo or supercharger. You'll be fine using 91 octane.

Re: firewall vin plate looking old and faded? fear not!
Why not just drill out the rivets, remove vin plate, paint engine bay, then rivet the vin plate back in place? I only say this because a reproduction vin plate is sketchy concept.

IIRC it has to do with using cop's on the stock ecu. Many people seem to have this problem.

Are the inner tie rods installed on the rack when you try this? If so there shouldn't be a difference if it's installed on the car or not.

Re: We're back. Want to help talk some sense into me? f20c
The thought of dd'ing a f20c corolla isn't crazy. The engines are reliable - it's a Honda after all. As long as the swap is done correctly and it's properly serviced you should be fine.
However, if emissions testing is required where you live the swap could be a BIG problem.
