42mm crankshaft limits

Postby XII » Fri May 15, 2015 10:42 pm

I've got a street/track build coming along so I've been doing some reading. I'm using nice pistons, rods, ladders, oil pump, ARP, etc. so the crankshaft is really my only concern, but I don't feel like it's worth the dosh for an aftermarket billet item as mine is only a couple years old, got it new from toyota during my last refresher build. I know the stock cranks are forged and from what I see TRD used to use them in race engines at one point or another after giving them the magic touch. So what I really want to know is are they only reliable to a certain threshold (~9,000) or can I have my new build balanced properly at my local race shop for up to 10,000 or possibly more? And stroker cranks don't really interest me I just wanna know how high i can spin the b!tch so I don't break everything else lol.

Cheers :P

its a crap shoot..... if you are going above 9k... that doesn't mean the first time... or the 30th time... but if you are going over 9k, I'd plan on a TRD(NLA), or similar crank.
