Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my broken T50 gearbox.
I am not sure what to do or how to fix or convert in order to use my hachi again in track.
I have in mind the TRD discontinued gear sets. Are they have duty ? Do they worth the money ?
I know already about the conversion of IS200 gearboxes and S2000 as well.
What about mx5 gearboxes? Are they compatible, has anyone tried or converted it to fit the 4AG ?
Are there any other options/ sugestions?
What adaptors are there out for sale ?
T50 Gearbox, Fragile !
Re: T50 Gearbox, Fragile !
Use a W-Series box with a NiteParts 4A to W-Series bell housing.

Does require a little bit of modification to the driveshaft and where the shifter
comes up through the top of the tunnel. Tried and true solution
Cheers... jondee86

Re: T50 Gearbox, Fragile !
What actually breaks in a T50 gearbox ?
Parts wear out of course and I wonder how many 'broken' gearboxes are out there because something has just worn out.
Personally I think the T50 is a cracking gearbox and mine stands up to all of the rally abuse I can throw at it. (now that I've sorted the worn out input shaft bearing !)

I've seen input shaft gear with missing teeth, counter shaft with missing teeth, 2nd gear with stripped teeth and 3rd gear with stripped teeth.
All from different gearboxes.

Love this pic
Shock loading is what breaks the teeth off the gear. So sidestepping the clutch
with sticky tyres, shift locks and clutch kicks are going to take their toll. Getting
the rear wheels off the ground under power (kerb, bump) so that the wheels speed
up and then slow rapidly when they makes contact with the road again... that will
generate some decent shock loading. Flat shifting... general abuse.
Of course, once you go well beyond stock power levels, you can also break the
teeth off the gears with excessive torque. So your 350hp 4AGTE drift machine is
going to go thru T-50's like a kid eating M&M's
I would actually think that driving on gravel would be easier on the box than seal
due to the lower grip levels of the tyres. But then those juuuuuuuuuummmppps !!!!

Interesting. What does the car weigh and how much power ?

Car weighs approx. 950kg and has 160hp
The photo above with the stripped input shaft could also be an input shaft bearing issue. How many people completely rebuild a 100,000 mile T50 before clutch kicking the hell out of it ? Excessive wheelspin for me just costs time
Standard clutches are much kinder to gearboxes too.
