4AC block?

Postby redroku87 » Sat Apr 13, 2013 7:44 pm

I read that the early (84-85) 4AGE uses the same block as the 4AC's from that time period, same casting everything. Is this true?

It will save me a lot of aggravation at the pick and pull soon here

According to Bill Sherwood, this is the case.

Awesome, now this is going to be some left field crap.

I lost ONE cam cap. Can a 4AC one be used on a 4AGE?

I don't know about interchangabilty so I can't speak on that, however I can tell you that things like cam caps are really motor specific, as in the particular motor i was machined for. It's possible you could pull a cam cap from an identical motor and have it work completely within spec but it's also possible you could pull a cam cap from an identical motor and once bolted to a different head it may not be within spec. Components are machined, measured and toleranced in reference to the other parts in that specific motor. It's not ideal at all to use components like this from a different motor but if you do, take special care to measure tolerances and make sure they meet OEM specs.

no...

and what yoshi said about cam caps is quite true. You might find one that does fit... and then again you just as possibly might not. As long as it isn't one of the front ones, the others can be made. As with everything is all comes down to cost.
