aftermarket springs or oem?

Postby lukaruich » Sat Sep 07, 2013 8:20 pm

running toda 272 dur 7.9mm lift in my 16v. my machinist mentioned getting stiffer springs, not sure if i should just run the old oem springs, get NEW oem springs, or try and get toda, hks, crower, ect. if anyone has any recommendations i would appreciate it, thanks:)

I think the lift is ok with stock springs but obviously they are worth checking for coil bind.
Essentially then it comes down to revs used and valve float, if you intend to use the stock ecu it will have
a non adjustable rev limit below the valve float threshold.

It's not just the lift that can cause an issue, it's also the ramp rate. I would always suggest changing to something a little more performance based like Toda, HKS, TRD etc as for one you already have the cams and buckets out, and two means you have some scope to factor in future upgrades also and they aren't that big of an expense.
