4age 20v idling problems

Postby 20vceli » Fri Feb 21, 2014 9:25 pm

Right now I have a 4age 20v silvertop with a blacktop ecu with open itbs, I have the map sensor tee into the vacuum line underneath the itbs. The problem is right now with the isc capped it idles at 800rpm but is rough/stalls easily. If I just leave that line off, the idle jumps to 2500rpm. Do I have the route the line to metered air like it was before with the silvertop ecu. It idled at 2500rpm before as well

Did you make sure the dashpot in the middle of the ITBs is hooked up to vacuum? This is probably the most common cause of high idle in the 20v.

from the factory, the ISCV draws air from the air box, so open its high idle, capped its low or stalls. take the cap you have and drill a small hole into it, under 0.100" in diameter. enlarge it a little at a time as needed to get the rpm's you want.
haha cali...i got one of your 86's and you're not getting it back.

Use the smallest hose u can find that fit and put an air filter there
