Hey guys building a 20v silver top looking for 275-350hp max at 8k to 85000 redline.
Would you recommend aftermarket rods or are silvertop rods with arp hardware sufficient?
ARP main bolts with ladder caps or just ARP bolts or factory bolts and caps?
20v silvertop turbo build Q&A

I don't think you will do that on stock rods but it would sound awesome haha.

I'd say you should be okay with the stock rods but the higher end of your goals starts getting into territory where you might be adding some risk staying with stock rods. 300 HP and 8k redline I wouldn't worry about it at all. 350 and 8500 should be fine but then again you will have a good bit of money into the rest of the motor and at that point it could be worth beefing up the rods for peace of mind.
The weight savings is a nice perk too. The ST rods are just over 500 grams. A good H beam will be between 350 and 400.
I would definitely go all ARP on this build, notably rods, mains and head. Ladder caps would be a good idea for sure.

I see them floating around from time to time used. I can get them from Hasselgren on the rare occasion I can actually get in touch with someone haha.
I can get new Carrillo rods though. Not sure if there is any difference between them and the TRD badged ones but I would be quite certain they are of equal quality.
Of course they are also the most expensive rod I can get as well.

Compared to the Brian Crower sportsman that are under $400 per set and claim to be good for over 200 hp per cyl, the standard Brian Crowers that they claim are good for 300 hp per cyl and the Tomei rods. Both of which are around $600.
I'm sure in their ways the Carrillos are better and if I had a customer building a 20k race motor I might try harder to sway them in that direction but I think any of the above would probably be a great option for your build.

What main bearing, and rod bearing oil clearances does everyone prefer? I was thinking the factory 4agze clearances.
And what piston ring gap if I'm looking to run 15psi?

Bottom end clearances are going to be dictated by RPM. Stock should be fine.
I would also run stock ring gap unless you are running aftermarket rings. In which case run manufacturer specified gap if there is one. Otherwise OEM.

And just to be 100% clear. All 4age 16v or 20v main studs and ladder caps will be the same?

To the best of my knowledge they all are.
