Hello everybody,
I own a 4age 1.6 20V silvertop on an AE92. Suddenly two days ago, as I was driving on the highway, the car started making a weird noise like a "boxer" engine and lost some power.
When I rerurned back and "run" to my mechanic, he checked the electrical system and sparks plugs and found no error. After measuring the compression, we saw that the fourth cylinder had none, zero!!!
He assumed then that it is a (intake) valve/s problem...
Is it worth opening the engine and fixing what might be the problem (valve/s)?
Or would it be better to search for, if any, possibly aftermarket valve kit for this engine..?

Hmmmm, broken valve, or could be blown out head gasket... nothing else I can think of will suddenly cause the engine to lose all compression in one cylinder

My silvertop broke a valve seat causing erratic idle and compression readings on a gauge, first 9 bar then 0 bar then 7 bar.
The valve seat split and is loose to turn in the head.

It's unlikely but a big hole in a piston could cause zero compression
I would do a leakdown just to try to get a good idea of what you will need when you get in there.
If it is a valve you could pull the valve cover just to make sure there isn't a sticking valve or something gumming up it's motion.
If you end up needing to replace valves I would use OEM valves.
