I am seriously considering of swamping my tired 4ac for the 20v bt is it that difficult to do this operation is it bolt in or do I have to cut things to fit ?and wiring issues with installing an ecu can I use the t50 gearbox that's already in the car? Just weighting pros and cons on this thanks

Not too sure about the T50 trans...

As for the wiring, you need an efi wiring harness. (83 corollas are carbed?)

You are better off carbing a 16v 4ag. no ecu necessary, you can probably modify your existing harness

I'm not running a 20V... but I am running a fuel injected 4AG in my 1983 AE71......

The T50 is fine as long as you treat it gently.... OR you can swap in an Altezza 6 speed if you purchase a LEEN adapter. Another transmission option would be the Supra W58 (it requires a custom adapter, or bell housing).

Have you thought of a smallport swap or building up a LP with high comp pistons and cams? Similar level of performance for a similar cost and less work than converting a 20v to FR.

Unless you are dead set on ITBs like most people around here lol. In which case you might as well just go 20v.

Sounds like I would be better off with the 16v carbed

I would go EFI personally but if you are overwhelmed then carbs is an option. Just not as good an option.

zakae71... a few things to remember....

1) the AE71 is about 100 kilos lighter then an AE86...

2) a tired 4AC puts down 50- 60 whp, a less tired one - 70 whp. A tired 4AG should plant 70whp, while one less tired might be above 90 whp. You don't have to build it a lot to feel a totally different car.

2a) - a stock or near stock 4AG, you should have no problems with a good T50... it is only as you build a 4AG to make more power does the T50 become less, and less adequate

3) The AE71 and the AE86 share quite a bit... MOST of the AE86 aftermarket can be utilized to rebuild, and update your AE71
