Both of my posting show different methods that this thread could find acceptable. The first one shows the subject in emboldened text, followed by the details, and in my 2nd posting it still covers all the specifics, but a bit more casually. Both are short, and yet specific.

Honestly I think this has been a long time coming.

This an awesome thread and should have been in the forum years ago (I think i talked it over with OST a while back).
It would be cool if it had its own board index section rather than just a stickied thread but regardless a great start. I have always seen that with power plants and platforms, having some type of refrence for performance will always keep the community intrested and stiving for maximum results. If there are no real world results then all we will have are pipe dreams and legends of cars/HP numbers. Even worse, without this type of section the 4ag will suffer from lack of intrest and disapear quicker due to builders not knowing what it can actually do and with what parts can this be realized.

So hats off OST

(BTW......................Can it be upgraded to an acutual section in the board index with subsections for other powerplants? Under the TECH banner of course)

bottom is rpm levels... sides are power (torque and HP) Normally the line that starts higher on the graph @ the left is torque. This is usually some "curve" shape. Horsepower is the line that begins(@ left) lower but builds as the rpm levels rise - it is more often represented by a slope.

Is that what you were asking??

For me?? I could care less what the peak power is... for me having a very useable torque curve...

I read your post... I can't answer you.... that would require Admin to agree and do. Make a suggestion to that point in one of the Club4AG problem threads....

I'd LOVE to set up the tech section here make it a proper tech section....

I'm pleased that I put down more then 100whp, but I'm not sure why they didn't take the car above 6k rpms. In my excitement of having the car on the dyno and hanging out with friends, I never bothered chatting with the guys running it. Oh well.

I had a good time and everyone seemed pretty decent about my beat up Corolla strapping down on the same dyno as a couple of GT500's, Corvettes, s/c & turbo'd Mustangs & Camaros, and one wicked TT Terminator that laid down 1014whp to take top bragging rights.

I think after doing some cleaning up and messing around on the car, I might take it back to see what it might do.

105whp is pretty good... the stock cams run flat @ about 6600, so your assumption is likely... you are probably close to 108 or 109 @6600.

4AGEs are not typically going to win dyno competitions..... What I would like to see... is how much time the TT's 1000 hp would help on an autocross course.......

added mine, I'm not a fan of the 16v n/a build though. I've always thought that spending thousands of dollars to squeeze bits of power out of a gutless engine is a waste of time, especially when Toyota did it already and made 160bhp from 115. Any kind of work such as: 3 angle valve grind, port and polish, cams, metal headgasket, higher compression... they can all be done to the 20v too to create more power. If I were to build an N/A 4age, I would definitely start using the 20v, its just a better base. That being said, 8.9:1 pistons on a smallport and a small turbo later, you'll make much more usable power than a 20v n/a build ever will... also for probably 1/2 the cost

I'm grateful for you guys posting your dynos, for the reasons Angry4AG mentions above. I'm especially interested in seeing 16v smallport turbo builds... and what figures are seen around 3k-4k RPMs.

This was my original plan. I didn't go with a Blacktop because of it going into my DD, and living in the USA where replacement parts are not as easily available as they are for the 16v. What would I do if I needed a new distributor or ignitor?

...and this is my current plan. Still doing my research, acquiring parts, and getting my wagon ready for a motor with about 3x more power than stock. Can't drive with more power on mushy suspension or with a clunking prop shaft

the igniter comes off sw20, and some 4runners, a lot of the parts actually cross over. you can also buy full rebuild kits from Toyota including rings and bearings, I'm actually quite surprised that I've never had the issue of not being able to locate parts for it.
out of luck for the distributor though, but you see them popping up every now and then in club4ag, they also don't break down often

VERY interesting...... especially the torque values per cubic inch...... Our "little" 4AGEs do pretty well overall, stock TVIS ones are about 1# per cid, while blacktops, and some tweaked 16Vs are in the 1.1-1.2 range.
