All,

I have a 4AGE 16V big block that I am working to start up since rebuilding. I have two questions about the wires that were on the battery fuse block.

1. Do I need a 30A and 80A fusible links? I have seen some folks using 60A - 100A in some posts trying to find the answer to this myself.. I think the 30 and 80 are stock according to the wire diagrams. Please let me know. I had to order the pink 30A...can't find it in stores.

2. Where do the white, green, black/red wires hook up? Do they get hooked to one end of the fusible link? What do they go to so I know? Here are pics.

I will keep looking and browsing the forums. I tried to find battery post pics and have been looking through the pics I took, but I did not take any real decent ones before I started going to town with my rebuild.

Fusible link is just another name for fuse, so yes, you hook up to the end that
is not attached to the battery terminal.

White wire splits off to a bunch of things, but most important is the alternator.
Black-red wire runs to JB1 and then to the ignition switch.
Green wire seems to change to a black-red wire and connect to the underhood fuse box.

Hey man, thanks so much for the diagram! I think I get it now, just need clarification.

1. Instead of using an 80A / 30A, I need to use a 60A / 30A?
2. White wire would bolt opposite of the terminal to the 60A?
3. Black/Red would bolt opposite of the terminal to the 30A?
4. Green would bolt onto either side of the terminal end?

Quiet day so I took some pics... because every thread needs pics







This is from a Euro spec car which is closer to JDM than USDM, so I can't say
if it will be the same as yours. It only uses two fusible links (1 x 30A + 1 x 80A)
as you can see. All of the wires that leave the fusible links are bundled together
and the white wire ends up at the alternator.

The separate fat black wire has is own connection direct to the battery post,
and bypasses the fusible link block running directly to the starter motor. So...
- White wire to the 60A link.
- Black-red to the 30A link.
- Green wire to battery side of links (the fusible link for this wire is inside the
underhood fuse box).
- The CMH fusible link is only used on the SR5.
