i'm looking for the oil level in a 4A-GE when the engine is idling and when its steady state around 5000rpm.
can anyone start their car, and take a shot at measuring?
btw, has anyone noticed the search function is not really working? i was trying to hunt around for this information and it just didn't work... (maybe its operator error, but...)
thanks,
oil level at idle and at 5000rpm
Re: oil level at idle and at 5000rpm
A little lower then engine off and a little lower still up at 5000. Windage makes it awfully tough to gauge & mostly useless.
Doubt that there's more then a half pint/250cc up top unless G's or tremendous blowby are concerned.

Re: search function. Yes, I keep getting "the backend" something or another "for this topic does not exist". I understand the words, but I don't understand the meaning.

There is probably a technical term for the problem, but basically it means the forums
are fcuked, and no-one with the power to do something about it, gives a sh*t. As far
as I can figure, the forums have been cut adrift to wither and die, in favour of newer
technology... read social media (or trivia traps as I call them)

i agree... social media is worthless for aggregating shared knowledge... grrrr... its a bummer because there a more than a couple MR2 / corrolla / 4AGE sites out there and already the knowledge is dispersed... now if its goign to go stale... is it time to sell and get a new platform? or is should we convince Yoshi to manage the site...

So we've been sort of left to die on the vine. I know the 4age isn't cutting edge, and I realize that as a group we aren't an advertiser's dream. Here I am, trying to build a half-assed sports car on a piggy bank budget (as oldskewl, bless his heart, knows too well) and the info that would help is disappearing. Is there any way to make a search work?

The Search function on the Archive Forum (from before the crash) still works.
There is a lot of useful information there...
