Shallower Sump

Postby Cortina69 » Wed Jul 13, 2016 3:33 pm

Gents,

I want a shallower sump as I'm struggling for clearance. How much could I shave off? Or does anyone sell something like this? Any points/advice or photos would be fantastic

Many thanks

If you are looking for ground clearance, then about the only thing that would
help is moving to a dry sump setup. The oil has to collect somewhere for the
pickup, and the oil capacity on a 4AGE is already considered marginal for hard
driving. Competition cars often add "wings" and gates to increase the sump
capacity and help keep the pickup immersed under high G's.

I would not make the sump any shallower. Like jondee said if anything you want to make it deeper and do other things to make it harder to suck air. At least if you like corners. Dry sump would be about your best bet.
