Been building a 16v on carbs for a while now. Gonna run Mikuni carbs from a Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R.
Today I ran in to an issue while trying out throttle cables. Since the throttle cable mount point on the carbs is so small in diameter compared to the stock 4age I can barely push the pedal down an inch before I have full throttle.
Anyone else running these carbs on a 4age or know a nice way to solve the problem that doesn't involve sketchy welding to make the throttle cable run a longer route to fully open the throttles?
Bike carb conversion: Gas pedal travel issue
Re: Bike carb conversion: Gas pedal travel issue
Ideally you would want to swap the cable quadrant on the carbs for an AE86 EFI
sized throttle quadrant. If you can't swap the whole quadrant you might be able
take the outer part of the AE86 size quadrant and tack that onto the bike quadrant.
There are other hacks that can get you there but this is the best way
NB: I stole this image from the Battle Garage website and they actually sell this
quadrant as a kit for converting 4age 20V throttles from the OEM linkage. Don't
know if you could use it on your carbs but it shows what you need to do to get
full travel on your gas pedal.

Re: Bike carb conversion: Gas pedal travel issue
The quick and dirty way is to change the throttle pedal arm length.
Re: Bike carb conversion: Gas pedal travel issue
Take totta crolla's idea one more step. Make the throttle pedal arm adjustable. I used the cable eye end from the stock pedal, and threaded it into a lower tube section. You can then thread the arm length up or down, to the vary the leverage i.e. travel. Once you get the correct length lock it down with a jam nut. davew7
Re: Bike carb conversion: Gas pedal travel issue
Ended up having a bigger wheel fabricated and welded to the smaller wheel on the carbs. Need to relocate the cable a bit for it to be 100% but it seems like a good solution since removing the stock wheel seemed hard on my carbs.
