Early 4AGZE Pistons what rings am I supposed to use?

Postby mk1spyder » Mon Mar 16, 2020 4:49 pm

So I am building a 4AGZE engine and I got my hands on an early NOS set of 8.0:1 pistons for a big port engine. But I see the Toyota rings are discontinued and there is nothing on rockauto, ebay provides some el cheapo rings but I don't trust them. They are standard 81mm pistons, I know the early 4AGE rings are technically the same size but why do they have a different part number from the 4AGZE rings? I would imagine there is a strength difference in the metal composition. So what is the best option for a high boost engine?

try 13011-16090 (I think that is the GZE ring set part number) I wrote standard, stock on the box

you might be able to call total seal and ask if there is a difference

That part number is for the newer pistons. I need the 1.5mm top ring set. Total seal discontinued them.
