I'm asking because the oil pan of my 20V has a dent in it and i got one from my brother's AE82 GT 4AGELC.

The oil pickup looks the same, but i didn;t compare the oil pan itselves.

The Corolla All-Trac (88-92, with oil cooler port) and AE100 Corolla / Prizm (93-97, no oil cooler port) 4A-FE oil pans will work with the 20v. The 7A-FE oil pans (2 piece design, upper = aluminum, lower = stamped steel) should also work since they also have that notch / cut-out on the oil pan & block.

My newer image above should also say that the early (88-92) 4A-F & 4A-FE blocks & oil pans are the rectangular design like the 4A-GE 16v.

In a word, no, the 16v and 20v oil pans aren't interchangeable.

You can use any 4A-FE oil pan with a 20v. I don't know if those 20v-powered cars came with oil coolers or not, because most 4A-FEs aren't oil cooled.

That's a pity. Then i'm going to use my own oil pan. I think it won't be a problem to get the dent out.

The oil pan of the blacktop i have doesn't have an oil cooler. I wanted to use my 7AFE oil cooler, but it seems that the Blacktop engine doesn't like oil coolers too much. They can cause problems with oil pressure i've been told. Besides that Blacktops doesn't seem to have any problems with higher oil temps and i'm going to use it for street purpose only.

They have a problem only if you use a pressure style oil cooler sandwich plate (like the oem 4ag style). Sometimes the pressure drop will cause the VVT to not activate. I use a Greddy thermostatic sandwich plate. The sandwich plate does not open until you reach 140 degrees.

You might be able to find a used, good 4A-FE oil pan. Or buy a new one from an auto parts store (-vs- buying from Toyota).

I didn't even think about the VVT not liking the oil pressure change with the OEM oil cooler. I have to decide if I want to keep my OEM oil cooler set up, or get something like Flowside posted.
