4AGE BT Valve clearance adjustment question --> No shims??

We're busy with (partially) rebuilding a 4AGE BT.
We're a bit confused if the valves needs shims to adjust them. The manual says you have to use shims, but there are no shims in the engine at the moment. We're wondering now if the 4AGE from factory doesn't have any shims? Or should they have shims?
Thanks!

Lift up the buckets and the shims sit onto the valve stem. The shim will probably be stuck to the inside of bucket with oil.

Don't you have any clue at all that your sludge is hiding them?

We really thought that maybe from factory there's no need for the shims. The car never had any service we think, so that's the reason we thought the valve were never adjusted and shims therefore were never added.

Have you measured the clearance yet? or did you lose the shims? Get the 4age 20v manual downloaded and check the valve lash.

No not yet, we cleaned and rebuild the engine block. The head is now at the rebuild shop to get it washed. After that we're going to meausure the valve clearance.
But i think i do have shims after all. They're a bit different then we expected. But they come between the retainers and the bucket aren't they? Does someone have a picture of them just to be 100% sure instead of 99%?

Thanks! That's what i was looking for

We thought these things were only to protect the bucket, but shims they are.
For the one who also don't know, they're the things in the front of the picture:

I can vouch for K1, purchased a few parts from them last year. Save a week delay getting them shipped, they are a legitimate retailer, delay was due to the guys being in Malaysia for a race last summer.
