I have some startup problems with my fresh rebuild 4AGE 20V.
It's continuous giving a TPS error in the ECU. The CEL won't come on, but it keeps getting back even after removing the 15A EFI fuse.
Today i let the garage do a CO check. The oxygen sensor values were okay and also at idle the co was, perfect about 0.42 i think. But when running @ 3000 rpm the co value is 0.80 where it should be 0.50 at max.
Can the TPS cause such a problem, or should i search for vacuum leaks?
Maybe it's just normal for a car during break-in that it runs rich?
Can bad TPS cause rich running?

Re: Can bad TPS cause rich running?
Break in should have nothing to do with it. If however the ECU has just been reset it can run a little rich particularly in open loop.
Yes the TPS can cause it to run rich. Test the TPS per the BGB

How can i test it? Is that in the Blacktop manual on the net? Must have look over it
But the problem might be elsewhere. Today i've meausured the primary coil and i've meausured a resistance of 0.9-1.0 ohm where it should be somewhere between 0.3x and 0.4x. Are coils prone to fail?
This would in my opnion absolutely explain the rich running. So hopefully this is the prob.
Are the coils exchangable with other model, like the 3SGE?
Thanks
