Weber 45's as itb's

Postby totta crolla » Sat Jun 29, 2013 11:48 am

Engine runs

Bit of a faff making a TPS fit and I had to remove and use blanking plates over the Weber cold start devices to clear the fuel rail but pretty much everything else fits and it complies with my desire to put it all back to stock in a couple of hours when I need to.

Are you running a map ecu or stand alone or did you make an adapter/plenum to adapt the AFM to them?

It's definitely doable. Just have to seal up any spots/orifices that would be a vacuum leak either temporarily (if you want to run the carbs again) or permanently if you no care (<-this evil and you of the devil).

I'm using a Freedom ecu standalone with mapping set up rpm vs throttle position.
The inlet manifold was one that came with the carbs and as long as I run my Weber linkage underneath the carbs (using the Weber linkage modification kit) everything else fits perfectly, even the fuel pressure regulator.

Have no fear Doc :)
my intention is to make up some removable sleeve's to go through the throttles to effectively block any airways. If that doesn't work then I will get some cheap "donor" carbs to modify.

I need to be able to swap inlet systems because I use the car for two different rally disciplines and one of them calls for a single throttle induction.
Of course I could have gone 20v itb's but I already had all of the carb stuff sitting in the garage and yes I could have just gone the carb route but I think
the swap to the standard inlet will be easier and quicker the way I have it now.

Removable sleeves is a great idea. The small, inner venturis (the little barrels floating in the middle of the throttle body) are of no use in an efi ITB setup and are easy enough to unbolt and slip out. If you can make the sleeve diameters near exact and as thin as possible you'll accomplish sealing off ports while not reducing the size of the throttle bodies too much.

Good luck.

I am doing my 20v swap and looking to do COP. Been reading up on it and the 3 main COP people use are off D17 civics, 1zz, and 1nz motors.
Haven't made up my mind which ones to go with so I would like to hear people's opinions. I also read that you should run colder plugs to avoid rev limits?
