This is a follow on from this topic on the old forum http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=109412

I promised I would post up the powerfc map and didn't at the time lol, I am very forgetfull haha

4age 16v
20v silvertop itbs
210 cc suzuki cappucino injectors (don't ask why, they came on the car from japan)
272 cams 8.25 lift
4-2-1 manifold
power fc

Anyway here it is
http://rapidshare.com/share/78AE1670F0975B88186FBDC34A14B454

and graph for people too lazy to click/read the original thread haha

This is mapped by me on my dyno (I calibrate my dyno myself and run it properly and when I have dynoed cars that have been to DD,Dastek etc they make less power on my dyno - make of that what you want but my cars run quick) and this file belongs to me, no re-selling or using but if you do atelast give me credit.

This if for educational use only guys it is pretty on the edge tune ratios sit around 13.1 mid range and get to 12.7 at the very top.

Tried the new link but unfortunately it was full of malware including a toolbar virus called "delta search"

HOW CAN I GET DELTA SEARCH ON MY COMPUTER?

This Virus can be installed by using two different methods. You can either download it from its 'official' site manually or find it on your computer out of nowhere. This method includes the third party software, which is always packed with such or similar adware. In order to avoid finding Delta Search on your PC out of nowhere, you should always pay attention to each of installation windows of the software. We must say that infection looks very similarly to Yahoo!.. However, it's used to redirect people to delta-search.com and then return forged search results for them. If you want to avoid discovering delta-search.com instead your homepage or search engine and you don't want to receive its misleading pop-up ads, you must remove Delta Search from the system.

My comments were in no way a reflection on you jabran and thanks so much for trying to upload the info.
I don't know much about file hosting but no doubt someone will be along to help.

Try that, click on the "to download" button. This should be fine

Hiya... I'm guessing that you are posting this .dat file as that is the file type
that your PFC outputs for saving ? However, and guessing again, you probably
need a PFC or the PFC software to load and view the file ? What would be a lot
better for me, and all the other guys who don't have a PFC, would be a screenshot
of the map/s saved as a .jpg file. That way we can see the map without needing
any special software... everyone can see .jpg's :)

what kind of cams did you use, CR ?
thanks in advance

Here are the maps, Due to the itbs and the way the powerfc is setup it only uses the top half upto 10000,11000 pim. works best this way.

Cams are 272 8.25 lift hks, compression ratio is unknown but I can see pistons are stock and it has a MLS headgasket so most likely a bit higher than stock.

Awesome... thanks for posting these !!

Can you say how the "pim" values relate to TPS % open or MAP % of atmospheric ?

And it looks like you have a heap of advance at low rpm ?? I had similar for a while
on a stock smallport with ITB's and 272 cams, and was getting a bit of detonation.
Had to knock it back, and lost a bit of low end torque.

Interestingly I mapped it on the dyno so I simply did it for max power and stopped, in some instances I heard det but only on the top end and I hadn't achieved any extra power. Obv Fuel differences come to play as well cams, overlap and compression ratios. I used tesco 99 you can google it for specs, I only used it then as it was the closest place with decent fuel now we have a shell vpower even closer so maybe a slight retune with v power and no filters and trumpets may be on the cards haha.

I found this for the PIM value

PIM is intake manifold pressure in Pascals?

PIM is the voltage signal out of the MAP sensor, and varies according to manifold
pressure. Converting the figures in the table to kPa absolute, PIM1000 = 8.45 kPa
and PIM11000 = 106.49 kPa. Hence it can be seen that the PFC should be able to
control up to 1 bar of boost, and for N.A. applications only the half the table will
be active, as stated by the OP.

My engine is running on a TPS only map, but I do have a MAP sensor hooked up
and can log the MAP values. So I will be giving this some serious study :geek: With a
lot of initial advance my engine was very noisy on the knock sensor at low rpm,
but quiet at high rpm. Since I couldn't be sure if I was reading mechanical noise
ot det, I just pulled a lot of timing out below 3000 rpm. I will probably have to get
it on the dyno with some proper det listening gear to find the truth.

I personally use det cans made from copper tube which is physically bolted on the head/block usually and I find it is the clearesr I haver ever heard an engine. I am being swayed more and more by the phormula knock stuff due to certain engines being so compact but for now I will stick to mechanical methods.

Should be interested to see what you gather from looking at my map, Would you mind sending/posting your map on here jpegs, file whatever.

I am going to switch to megasquirt possibly when I fix the fried injector driver chip on my ms1 but will be upgrading to ms2.

These screen shots show the first half of the ignition map (top pic) I am running at the
moment, and the map (bottom pic) I was running previously...

Image

The first map I created on the the basis that the 4AGE bigport could tolerate
a lot of low end advance, and assumed that the smallport could do the same.
However, that may not have been a good assumption ? The engine certainly
ran real good, with a surprising amount of throttle response when punching it
out of a low speed corner. But when changing plugs, I found "salt and pepper"
on all of them.

My logs had never showed any det, but when I checked, I found the knock sensor
wire was broken  After repairing that, I was reading a heap of "knock" at
low rpm's. I actually think it is mechanical noise, since it didn't change when I
knocked the timing back. But to be on the safe side until I can investigate more
thoroughly, I have left the map as you see.

The car actually drives fine with the current map, just is not as snappy as it was.
In the next few weeks I will put some of the advance back in and see if I can get
the car on a dyno where they have good listening gear. If that gets too hard, I'll
have a go at making a copper tube det can, and try road tuning :)

Oh yeah... and the first map I made looks a lot like yours... even a bit more in
places. So if you have a bigport I imagine it runs pretty good !!
