ae101 silvertop swap need help..

Hi guys, I'm new here, so i'll introduce myself first, i'm from Montreal, Canada, so i'm a french canadian ( excuse my grammar mistakes). i've been a car enthousiast for as far as i can remember and right now i'm a second year engineering student. I owned/own a couple yotas ( st185, mx63, ma70 and Ae101 right now). So lets get to the reason of my post.

I dont really know where to start so i'll kind of go chronologically. last spring i was looking for a new daily, something that would be fun and economic. i found a cheap 1997 corolla with a silvertop swap and a bunch of part obviously the car wasnt running but i thought i could spend the summer getting it ready. then things got complicated, missing parts, wiring harness was shitty ( the car ran with a redtop ecu) so i needed to get a new ecu and harness. I found another cheap corolla for sale. it was supposed to be a rolling shell but ended up having a silvertop with bad valve seals . bought it cheap thinking it would save the the hassle of building a harness and buying another ecu.

But in the end the harness was fucking ghetto too and now that its swap in my other car, the engine doesnt run. It starts, revs up to 2500rpm then dies, no throttle response, nothing. i checked my harness with a friend who it way better than me with car electronics and everything looks fine. except that we arent sure what is the right pin out for my ecu ( 89661-12781 silvertop A/T) , the harness is pinned according to this pinout http://www.club4ag.com/faq_and_tech_pag ... _4A-GE.jpg but it says its for a ae111 ( blacktop then ). So i found this other picture http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-P6vvwyqgspM/T ... ompare.jpg where you can see a couple difference in the pinout and the third plug is a 12p when my ecu has a 22p. So right now i'm confused which one is the right pinout for my ecu..

And my harness is really hacked up so i'm thinking buying a new uncut silvertop harness and modify it would probably be my best bet. I'd just like to know what modifications i need to do.. from my understanding, i may have to repin the 22p connector and the IC1 and IC2 connectors ( those who plug in the cars wiring for the cluster for example) and i think i need to modify the starter circuit ? maybe the speed sensor and some transmission stuff too ?

I really need to get this car running asap since winter is comming up fast and i dont have much time to work on it because of school. I did a fast search but didnt find anything. So please help me!!

man what is your engine, a redtop a blacktop or a silvertop?
you need the right ecu for the right engine..
then one connector is probably for the dash and the 1 must be for engine control

its pretty easy
where you in montreal?

i have a silvertop and a silvertop A/T ecu. but cant find a consistent source for my pinout. my current harness is pinned according to a ae111 pinout ( blacktop) and my ecu use a 26p 16p 22p plug set up just like a blacktop should when a silvertop (m/t) should be a 26p 16p 12p according to this picture

I'm located on montreal's south shore. about about 20 min from mercier and champlain.

man..

open up the ecu covers
the pinout is printed on the pcb itself... lulz

hope this helps

i have a S/T pin-out on my 20v DIY swap thread, it has both manual and auto pin-outs. you can find the thread in the DIY section here...

^yeah, the BT pin-out will not work for your motor, theres no AFM stuff, youre lucky it starts

^you do know the redtop is a 16v, right?

i'm pretty noob to this stuff always been a little affraid of electric stuff and i want to get over that so i'm learning!

thanks for the hint btw!

allencr and morgan thanks alot for you help! i havent got time to read it yet but will do very soon! I also found a guy on the local forum that might be able to help me too.

oh and,I actually bought 2 ghetto ass cars and trying to work out a decent one out of them. so i have nothing do do with the engine running a redtop ecu and all. loll
