Well I take that back. I can use google and provide you with some stock pics.

Aside from the tone I'd say it looks an awful lot like the late 16v. What are the measurements for the big end bore and the width of the rod where the late LP rod measures 26?

Re: What is it? Conrod,Bearing,Piston
I really don't know. Big end and small end both agree it's a later 42/20 rod. It looks more OEM than aftermarket but definitely doesn't seem to line up perfect with any of the standard USDM or commonly discussed rods.
That said, I can't say I'm perfectly familiar with all the 4A variants.
Do you know any more history on them like where they came from or how you came across them?

Not much History on it, all i know its a 7 rib block. it could be one of those crossover engines going from 16v blue top to red top ,maybe they where using the left over rods? its a mystery for sure. Ive never seen this before my self.
But yes it does look like a factory rod, piston is also stamped Toyota i assume thats OEM also. now its just a guessing game on the years so i can buy the bearing/rings for it.

Mic the big end journal bores and see if they are in spec per the 7 rib FSM. If so then the bearings for it should work just fine.

With some google searching you should be able to find some threads where they discuss ring thickness for the various 4A pistons. Then you just need to mic the ring grooves and see what will be compatible.
Can you get a couple pics of the dome? That will help a little too.

Can you get a pic more from the side so we can see how much dome it has?

Re: What is it? Conrod,Bearing,Piston
Can you measure the rod length from center bore to center bore? Like in the image yoshimitsuspeed posted earlier. Maybe also measure the big end with the bearings in place to make sure it's 42mm.
I'm wondering if the Chevy Nova Twin Cam ('88 only I believe) or the '89 Geo Prizm GSi, both having the 4A-GE bigport, had weird rods. But I would think that everything under the valve covers of those Chevy/Geo 4A-GEs is the same as the corresponding Corolla 4A-GEs.

Re: What is it? Conrod,Bearing,Piston
center to center comes out 123mm, just like the picture. Also the rod with the bearings in place measure 42mm.
I also found some info on 4a-ge blocks, they have 3 diff. size stock pistons and its marked on the tops #1,2,3 . looks like mines have a #2 marking, what the heck does it mean?
