I think it has to do with being a new member. When your post count is higher you can send PMs (but you can only reply to them until then).
I might be interested in that crank. Is there any paperwork for it? How was it stored?

There are some topics in General Discussion that would help bring post count up. I suppose we can keep asking you questions and that will bring it up (if the number is higher than 10).
