1986 AE86 Hatchback Corolla SoCal - SOLD

Postby 548753 » Fri May 16, 2014 10:30 am

Hello Club,

Up for sale is my 1986 Toyota Corolla Hatchback. I am sad to see it go, but it is time for me to move on to something a little newer as my daily driver.

I have owned and driven this car every day for the past three years. I am proud to say I have brought it from a car that was on the brink of death to something reliable and trustworthy. Before I go on let me make it clear that this car is not without its problems; the diff has started to whine being my main concern. Also the car was originally an SR5 and has been mostly converted with the exception of the fuel lines and speedometer. I recently went through some major expenses with the car and can't bring myself to put more money into it as this point. So it has to go.

The car is currently being garaged and only driven when necessary. I don't want to see it having to be towed somewhere so I am driving it as little as possible. It has only been a few days since the noise started occurring, so you may be able to get by on it for a while.

The box in the last picture is filled with receipts of services I have had done to the car. 99% of all work was done was by the reputable guys at Mitsu's Garage. If it would make you feel better about buying the car I would be more than happy to arrange a meeting with them and we can discuss all of the work that has been put into it in further detail.

Engine:
- AE92 High Compression Motor (with warranty, got a few months left)
- HKS Sport Exhaust

Exterior:
- Complete Zenki JDM Front Bumper
- JDM Zenki Grill
- JDM Kouki Redline Tailights
- JDM Rear Kouki Bumper

Interior:
- Bride Reclinable Mesh Headrest Seats (pass side has a couple small holes)
- JDM GTS Steering Wheel
- Pioneer Head Unit
- Pioneer 3" Speakers

Wheels/Tires:
- Work Equip 03 14X7 (don't know offset)
- Blox Racing Lug Nuts
- Great Condition Falken Tires (only months ago, practically new)

Suspension/Brakes:
- Tokico HP Shocks
- Eibach Springs (rate unknown, feels great for street)
- TRD Sport Upper Mounts
- Project Mu Slotted Front Rotors
- Rear Brakes Recently Rebuilt w/ OEM Kit
- New Rear Brake Rotors and Pads
- All wheel bearings have been recently replaced

Drivetrain:
- 212mm OEM clutch
- 212mm Flywheel (unclear if AE92 or AE101)
- T50 with GTS Bell Housing (no grinds or pops)
- Open Differential (perfect opportunity to put something fun in there)

Cons:
- Differential is whining
- AC has been removed
- Speedometer does not work
- Gas gauge can be faulty
- Power steering has been removed
- Poorly done paint job
- Rear quarter panel has been repaired at one point
- Engine slightly burns/leaks oil. Was waiting for the warranty to expire before opening it up
- Hatch known to leak a bit, but I have a replacement in excellent condition just needs paint

(these first three are before the JDM Zenki grill and Kouki rear bumper)

I don't want there to be any surprises for the future buyer. Obviously this car is going to need someone who is dedicated enough to put the time and money into owning a 24 year old car. I want to see it go to a good home. Overall it runs excellent and if you give it a test drive you will be able to tell right away that this car has been well maintained and cared after.

Yeah guys, sorry about the paint lol. It was done by the previous owner, and I wanted to do the paint last once everything else was finished.

It would be shame to let the paint job deter you from the car. This corolla has seen much attention and effort put into it in other aspects. If the paint is really that big of a deal then simply shoot me an offer, getting it sanded and resprayed wouldn't be the end of the world.

Perfect for a red panda!

I am able to show the car Mon-Fri after 5pm or before 9am. Saturdays and Sundays I am completely free.

Come on by, have a cold beer, and let's get this car sold!
