Zenki GTS Open Diff

Postby eight666 » Wed Sep 25, 2013 10:34 am

Need a quick fix to GTS purchased with a welded diff (not too keen on it for daily driving). I have a zenki coupe, im pretty sure it was originally set up as an open diff (Canadian import). To my I don't have a lot for cash to drop on LSD with axles, but i'll consider that too. Ideally I would like to drop an open in there and call it good, I would gladly trade the professionally welded diff to someone for a non welded zenki diff. Thanks

I got a Zenki open diff for sale if you are interested? To my knowledge, it is still in great condition and if it wasn't I wouldn't sell it to you. I took it out February of this year when I finally saved up for a lsd. Here are pictures,

That's awesome. I'll definitely take it. Let me scope my finances.

Also, am i correct in assuming I don't new axles or anything if my GTS is already factory open diff? And also, down the road I would like LSD too, what all was involved in your upgrade Ina zenki?

Thanks man, hold onto that diff for me and I will pay once I make sure I have cash in my account.

Just as long as your 86 is a Zenki with Zenki axels then you will not have any problem fitting your axle this this diff. I'm sure you know that a kouki axel will not fit a zenki or the other way around. Just make sure when you put in this one you'll need a few new parts. You'll need, new bearings, 4 new bolts for the cap that holds the diff in place and you'll need the locking plates. I can't remember how many you'll need (I work in the parts department at Burnsville Toyota so if you have any questions you can contact me there and I can look up the parts for you;however I took this whole week off so I won't be in work until next week). When you install this one, or any diff, you'll need check for pre-load and make sure your back lash are within specs. If it's out of spec or if you skip all this, then you'll get a noisy rear end and it's not because I sold you a bad diff, it's because the back lash and pre-load wasn't done or done properly. As for my upgrade, I saved up for a 1.5 way OS-Giken (top quality and very expensive, $1700) and you don't have to break it in. Cusco and kaaz you'll have to break it in by doing circle 8s for a certain amount of time to break it in properly. I went with a 1.5 way simply because I only grip race... not a fan of drifting. And same with installing this in, check for back lash, preload and new bolts and bearings. The lock plates will not work on the after market one because the diff is too thick and the lock plates will not fit. Lastly use the proper gear fluid that is specify for the diff or else it will not perform properly.
If you have any questions, just let me know... when you are ready to buy it, payments can be sent to paypal.

Sweet... I didnt know I would need any new parts, so maybe when your back at work you can get me some part numbers and I can gauge how much all the stuff will cost me. I would not be putting it for a week or 2 anyway. So if you don't mind holding onto it for a week or so, I will have a payday anyway
