20v wiring for ECU 12-16-26

Postby astrobase » Mon Mar 31, 2014 4:44 pm

I am new to the the club and new to the 4AGE 20v engine. I am swaping the engine into a 1972 Lotus Europa. The car will not require an emissions test and the wiring harness for the 20v will just be for the engine operation. Can anyone tell me the minimum connections required for the ECU for the engine to run?
Thanks,
Astrobase

Welcome to Club4AG :)

There are two versions of the 4AGE 20V... the earlier "silver top" AFM
engine, and the later "black top" MAP sensored engine. Which version
are you wanting to wire ?

I have searched the logical boards and have yet to find a post dealing with 16v to 20 v silvertop distributor compatibility. I have a 20v ST but need a distributor, any ideas on P/Ns or compatibility with other 4AGe engines? Thanks

Again, from ToyoDIY. It appears that the distributor you require is used on
both the AE101 (Silvertop) and AE111 (Blacktop) 20V engines, which can be
found in the following Japanese market variations.

Part 19100-16270 (DISTRIBUTOR ASSY) was found on the following models:
Market Date range Model Frames/Options
Japan 06/1991-05/2002 TOYOTA COROLLA AE10*,CE10*,EE10*
Japan 05/1995-07/2000 TOYOTA COROLLA AE11*,CE11*,EE111
General 08/1991-10/2001 TOYOTA COROLLA AE10*,CE100,EE10*
Japan 06/1991-05/2002 TOYOTA SPRINTER AE10*,CE10*,EE10*
Japan 05/1995-07/2000 TOYOTA SPRINTER AE11*,CE11*,EE111
Japan 06/1991-07/1998 TOYOTA LEVIN AE10*
Japan 05/1995-07/2000 TOYOTA LEVIN, TRUENO AE11*
Japan 08/1995-06/2002 TOYOTA SPRINTER CARIB AE11*
Japan 08/1996-11/2001 TOYOTA CARINA FF AT21*,CT21*,ST215

There does not appear to be any US market listing for a vehicle with the
20V engine, so you will be looking for someone parting out a JDM import, or
seeing if there is a used engine importer who might be prepared to sell you
the dissy off a parts engine. The distributor is unique, and does not appear
on any engine other than the 20V 4AGE.
