New to the club, What's up?! Need a little help too..

What's up guys!? I'm from Utah and I'm new to the Toyota family. I recently traded my sr20det swapped 240 for an 84 mostly gts swapped hatch, it's pretty clean but recently stopped running. The car will start up and run "rich" for about 5 seconds and then die out slowly. When I press the gas it will, at first rev up, but only for a few seconds. Then the more peddle I give it the quicker it will choke out and die. I am thinking it is the air flow meter but I want to check to see if it before I buy one, does anybody locally have one I could test and possibly buy?
