California Smog - Do they check your catalytic converter?

I purchased a Magnaflow High Flow Cat from PDM Racing and i have less than 5,000 miles on it. I noticed there are CALIFORNIA cats out there now and I do not want to purchase another cat.
Do you guys know which smog requires this? I have smog coming up soon and I wasn't sure if it was the TEST ONLY / STAR that checked it, or does ALL SMOG check ups look at your cat now?

Star station failed my friends miata for having the wrong cat. So depending on how anal the guy is he may run the part # on your cat

I badly need my rolla passed., no way in hell am I going to be able to swap all the emission crap back in and pass it., 3TC with headers valves spring weber the usual

question: why are butterfly knives illegal if the rule is never bring a knife to a gun fight?
