hi i recently purchased a ae86 sr5 hatch and this summer i need to drag race it i know sounds wired for a 86 but its a must i need to prove some haters wrong lol i need to beat a few cars a 2013 camaro 2ss auto a 2007 mustang gt stick with 4/10 rear end gears and a 2002 camaro 345hp stick i would like to run 12:70s>12:80s if someone can tell me what kind of motor and set up i need to it i really hate to do this but i need to prove some people wrong lol

A 4A-GTE would do high 12's easily enough. As long as the factory 4A-GZE bottom end has good compression still and the bearings are okay, a decent MLS head-gasket, some mild to medium cams and 15-18 pounds of boost with some decent tyres will have you in the low 13's to high 12's depending on the driver. The real question is why do you really need to? Still a reasonable amount of money just for bragging (wanking) rights.

4AGTE would probably be cheapest and easiest.
Should have no problem getting you into the mid 12s with cams, good pistons and engine management.

I love the 4AGE and would rarely move away from it but if I did I think 1GR would be next on my list.
Not only should it get you into the 12s stock but it will have a nice broad power band with good low end which requires less technical skill to launch well than say a high strung turbo 4A.
