So I have got my first corolla ('87 GTS coupe) And i would like to know of any tips and tricks you have for owning these cars? whether it be what should be done to the car in steps, or just tuning and tinkering. What have you learned from owning your corolla?

do the maintenance first: motor, drivetrain, and suspension. get everything in good working order first

Get manuals here: http://www.aeu86.org/technical/ae86-manuals/
Lots of interesting stuff here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11214

Like everyone else said, do maintenance first and make sure everything is in top shape. Oh also change all the rubber hydraulic lines to braided stainless ones (brake and clutch lines). :)

as far as wiring, always solder or male/female clips. I use male/female clips for all my wiring since its easier to troubleshoot electrical problems and replacing wire segments.

Awesome, thanks guys. Also, a amateur question; if i was to say, jack up the car, where would one put the plate on the bottom of the car? Aswell as where would my 3 ton jack stands go on the rear and other sides? Thanks a bunch :)

For jacking the rear, i lift from the bottom of the pumpkin (Diff) both jack stands on rear axell.

Make sure you block the front wheels to keep it from rolling!

for the front i jack on the cross member.

my new 1987. 2 owners, 133k, never seen winter, all original, thought this would be a good place to start. was thinking about breaks, suspension etc. wondering what to start with? bushings sounded like a great idea.

Could use a deep cut polish and wax. Believe it or not, there's shiny paint hiding under that pink
