CA 30-Year Rolling Smog Exemption Petition

Hey guys. I don't know if this has been posted/mentioned anywhere (did a quick search and found nothing), but was hoping to get some help from any other CA 86 owners. Came upon this petition to reinstate the rolling 30 year smog exemption in California. There are always some talks to shift the cutoff year, but having a rolling 30 year cutoff makes much more sense. I'm not sure if this petition will even do much good, but it can't hurt. Would be nice to have our 86s smog exempt in the next few years. I'm getting really worried about smogging mine this year. I don't know what I'm going to do when I fail. I think CAP gives a 1-year grace period if repairs for making the car pass smog would exceed $500. If that doesn't work, might have to file for non-op and exile her to the garage. That'd be a shame. Anyways, if you're a Cali resident, please sign and share. Thanks.

It doesn't hurt to try, but every time this is attempted the EPA and tree hugger groups like the Sierra Club rally together and convince the local politicians it's a bad idea.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. It sucks though since our old cars make up such a tiny fraction of the pollution. But they will never see it that way. It's like they've already made up their minds and are making it their personal mission to destroy the old car enthusiasts.

I hate CA smog, all the nature lovers( talking about the extremists here) despise any kind of leverage on old cars, at least get rid of the smog equipment requirements a 20v runs cleaner than a 16v for crying out loud! Use some common sense stupid politicians! Why restrict us from doing what we want if it has no consequence?

This actually makes sense from a legal standpoint, emissions are getting very strict and nowadays even bare stock ae86's and other eighties cars are struggling to make it through requirements. Soon there is going to be even stricter smog requirements, free us from the impossible please!

I see these "online petitions" pop up once in a while. I always wonder if signing them even means anything. I still did though, I really want the 30 year exemption back.

Same here. I sign to hope for the best, but they have never seemingly done anything in the past to change the laws.
The fact that this petitions name is "casmogblows" makes it harder for anyone to take seriously also.

Looking at the pole, the group that is setting this up is http://www.semasan.com/page.asp?content=startpage&g=semaga, but looks like the donations on that petition actually go to the petition company.

Spread the word! Ask your friends to sign! Share on social media! This is one small step in preventing California from becoming a fascist state.

Signed. Being a CA resident is such a love/hate relationship.
