Hey guys i have a blue top 4ag im rebuilding but it has just come to a screeching hault cause i bought aftermarket cx racing connecting rods and oem rod bearing but when i go to install everything it dont work cause the bearings ate to big for my crank and i dont wana buy a restop crank so if anyone has had the issue before gooefully they can point in the right directions for some bearings off a differnt engine that will work or if i gotta have some custom made at a shop. Thankyou and please reply iv been trying to finish this car for months now and its just difficult since day one

There are two different size crank bearings if I remember right. Sounds like you've got the wrong ones. Do they fit in the rods but not the crank?

Yes they fit in the rods but not the crank there 5.01 mm to big, thanks for replying

??

4AG rod journals are either 40mm, or 42mm... Not sure where the 5.01mm comes from??

A brief lesson... if original, the 3 rib engines almost always came with the 40mm rod journal crank - the crank on top in photo below.

The yellow lines show you the significant visual difference between the two cranks - they show that the marked counterweights are all shaped similarly, where as the earlier crank has 2 different looking counter weights

I do not know of any oversized bearings that are THAT much extra.... .010", .020"... but I've not heard of a .080"+ oversize

First I just have to ask why you would buy CX racing rods?
The stock rods are quite stout and if you are exceeding the capability of the OEM rods there is no way I would trust a set of four that sold for less than a single name brand rod.

As others have said the early crank has smaller bore rods. I bet you have a three rib engine and seven rib rods. The CX racing rods are 45mm which would be correct for the later crank.
