Toyota Carina AA63 3 years and going...

Postby corollafreak » Wed Jul 17, 2013 12:13 am

I never thought that there was a new club4ag forum until now... :D i've been a toyota fan eversince but when i sold my trusted 4ag 20v ae101 i concentrated on other hobbies...

Since the ae86 has been my dream car and is quite expensive here in manila (well, at least expensive for me note: can't afford) i settled for a lesser known toyota for a mere mortal like me...

thus, introducing the aa63 toyota carina which i bought last 2010 in an effort to get me racing once again...

had the body currently stripped down and repaired the rusted parts on the chassis first...(will post pics later)

my mechanic initially suggested a sr20det transplant but again i have to settle for less (installed a 4g63t engine instead).

All that's left before the car starts to bring life back to my veins is piping and a complete exhaust system...i'll leave the exterior rusty as i am quite short in funds plus i want to show guys around in the metro the real meaning of sleeper vehicles.

Welcome man. Nice and somewhat rare Carina you have. This body style is the later model years of AA63 which came with the A engines (duh!), and if your's has a 4AGE engine then it should have IRS also. 8-) The earlier TA63 initially came with the T-engines (2T, 2T-B, 13T and the titanic 3T-GTE). The ones with the 3T alphabet engine did have IRS.

Our dealer never imported this body style as it would have given the Celica (also built on this same platform) too much sales competition.

DOHC 4G63's are a far superior engine to an SR in every single way, so don't feel so down about that. Looks like it will be an awesome project.
