Hi there!
My name is Miguel Lavín and I want to start a drifting championship in Mexico!!!! To this effect I'm building a pair of sister drift cars in order to take them down to central México, and hopefully get the ball rolling with some demos and branding activation.
This will be more or less a dumping ground for notes, pics and general planning of the builds.
The base cars:
My car:
87' Hatch:
My buddy's car:
86' coupe
We are both going to be running 1uz FE engines to have parts commonality and a rock solid, reliable 250hp. Hachis are more rare in México city than ferraris, so not many people will cry !ANATHEMA! for us not running 4ag's. I personaly like my 4agze, but I dont want to thrash what is becoming a rare engine. Therefore it's going on sale!
2350,if enyone is interested; there's a for sale thread here:
JDM 4agze swap for sale $2350

THE PLAN:
I am a pragmatic sort of guy; my cars have never looked good. But for this particular endevour, the cars must make a very good impression. I'm thinking of a slightly more upmarket look than "grassroots drifter" which has been my default in, like, forever. Here's a mockup:
Listed from favorite to least favorite
1
2
3
Total newb in terms of body, paint, etc.
I have a little bit of time to think about the style, since rollgagees are going in first,
I'll keep posting stuff

If you want to make that graphic scheme a reality, it'll be a vinyl wrap, but neat idea, never seen a plaid ae86, definitely cool

Rollcage coming along nicely:
Out with the old
Getting redy for some 1uz love
Gussets for doors
Quick change core support fittings
Tire/wheel intrusion stoppers
Overhead intrusion protection
Suspension mounting points

I think it'd be cool if it had plaid in the back and kind of blocks of plaid that made it look like it faded into it. Cool idea
