wiring my fuel pump, need some advice.

Hi, im new to club4ag and I was hoping you guys could lay some wisdom on me about wiring a fuel pump.
I am gts swapping an 84 sr5 and am missing the gts rear harness, so i dont have power/ground wire to
connect to the gts fuel pump hanger. Now here is the solution I have come up with and I want to know
what you guys think.
I have located the switched 12v wire used to power my radio (which I am not installing)
I am going to cut it and wire it to a relay so it is controlled by the ignition.
then wire the pump power wire to the battery with an inline fuse.
and of course the appropriate grounds.
What is your guys opinion on this idea? what do you think i should do instead?
I was also wondering if the pump not being connected to the afm or main efi relay affects anything?
Thanks for reading/your help, I really want to get this car done.
