Look What I Got: FX-GT

Postby random_tox » Thu Sep 06, 2018 2:12 pm

I'm pretty sure it's the first imported to the US.

I worked with JDM Legends to bring it over. It's in my garage, insured, ready to drive except waiting for title process to complete.

1990 Corolla FX-GT. Small port MAP 4AGE. Very nice aftermarket exhaust manifold, and a stereo install seem to be the only modifications. 95000 KM. (<60000 Miles.)

nice, looks very clean. How much was the total price to bring it over? Looks like a fun project.

Side note, I bet that was an awesome experience going over to the JDM Legends shop and meeting the guys.
[I have no idea what I'm doing]

I first met the JDM Legend guys years ago, long before they had the show, at a local burrito joint. Since then have stopped in and seen them at meets occasionally. Nice guys. Down to earth. So they are not celebrities to me. Just some local car buddies. I am always in awe of the cars at their shop though.

I'm not willing to share my cost, but my case was very similar to what they have listed on their sitehttps://jdmlegends.com/pages/importation for cost breakdown of a less expensive car:

Here are a couple of examples of some importations done by us in the past:

$5,000 (cost of car in Japan) 1991 Toyota MR2
$ 500 Commission
$2,000 JDM Legends fee
$1,500 (approximate) Shipping
$ 700 (approximate) Taxes and Duties
------------------------------------------
$9,200 total

$60,000 (cost of car in Japan) 1972 Nissan Hakosuka style Skyline GT-X
$ 4,800 Commission
$ 2,000 JDM Legends fee
$ 3,500 (approximate) Protected enclosed shipping
$ 4,700 (approximate) Taxes and Duties
--------------------------------------------
$75,000 total
