so basicaly from scratch im instaling a flywheel with no alignment marks to work with on block/flywheel. There are the 3 grooves in back. Two holes through flywheel opposing each other.
At TDC where should I align my grooves/holes?
i'd really appreciate some advice to get past this thank you.
Not a 100% on the 4a c/ge but some njuns it matters. I had nothing to go on so wanted to be sure. Dealership mechanic said to set the three grooves on backside to tdc. This aligns the thru holes to each side roughly. If you hold the flywheel in place and spin it you can feel a slight weight transition, being abit ocd I had to complusively find the finite balance. Should see me set piston to tdc lol.
The flywheel is balanced by the factory, those holes are where weight was removed and mean nothing more then that. Just for good work practice, position should be marked before removal even though it's unnecessary. Any feeling of 'a slight weight transition' is only in your head.
