Tokicos Review Question

Postby Shuwey » Tue Apr 16, 2013 2:42 pm

I'm currently looking around for a good/cheap/ suspension for my AE86 Gts, and I was wondering if anyone has bought this bundle they have on amazon, (Tokico Shocks Struts + M2 Lowering Springs Combo). Are the springs any good? or should I go with different springs? If anyone has/had this setup before in their car, I would like to hear your feedback on it, and would you recommend me buying it?

Any feedback would be appreciated.
thanks :geek:

From my personal experience if it's a daily and some fun around the street or (touge) it feels fine. Now you gotta keep in mind that when you are on the touge/street you don't push your car to the limit like you would on a track. So a car on the street will always feel great! It is different on the track. You'll feel the difference... You can distinguish from the good and the bad. I had those tokico HP and Eibach springs on my 86 for a year and dumped it quick as soon as I saved up for short stroke conversion. Again it felt great on the street and on the touge (keeping in mind you're not pushing it hard on the touge ,just enough to have fun) but when I'm running on the track (grip race) with Direzza Z1 tires, trd swaybar in the front, cusco sway bar in rear, prothan bushing and T3 lateral bar. You'll reach the limit of the spring & shock setup quick to where you're trying to balance out the body roll. A little body roll is natural but in this case it's, the kind of body roll to the point you're loosing control and you can't pick up speed (in a corner). Hopefully it make sense. Simply because you're at the limit of the set up. I can't put it words well enough, It is just better experiencing it... It was disappointing in my case... BUT! for a entry level, its not bad!... But for intermediate or advance, the set up is not for you... It's just my opinion so i hope it helps.

I have the tokico blues with megan springs and agree with what he ^ said 100%.

I looked at the amazon link. It's kind of weird that they don't list the spring rates.
