Battery issues or...

Postby Mjb203 » Wed Feb 26, 2014 4:41 pm

Hey everyone, since ive bought my car ive been having issues with the battery.. It just drains overnight and ill charge it and it will be fine for a couple days then drain again. I jump started it today and let it run for a while and slowly watched the volt meter drain until it died. I tried to jump start it again and it wouldnt hold enough juice. Surely its the battery right? Or could it be something else. Money is tight for me right now because i just moved to florida and dont have a job yet and i would like to be sure before i buy a new battery. The previous owner also put in a brand new alternator i wanted to ask here before i took the time to take it out and have it checked.

Its not charging dude. Put your meter across the battery terminals
and check the voltage when the engine is running. If you don't see
14V or better at a fast idle, then the alternator is not charging the
battery. Check the charge fuse and wiring, and if they are good,
take the alternator out and have it tested.
