No spark issue

Postby firsttimmer » Wed Mar 26, 2014 3:39 pm

Ive ran into a little problem. after getting the 20v all wired up we went for the first start. getting plenty of fuel but no spark. thought it was the ignition coil. so i replaced that and still the same issue. My next thought was the igniter. i havent recived that in the mail yet so idk. but if anyone else has any input it would be greatly appreciated.

Got 12V at the coil and the igniter when the key is ON ?

Power for the coil and igniter usually comes from the keyswitch, so
you need to track the wire back and see why there is no 12V. Maybe
there is a bad connection somewhere ?

As a temporary check, providing you can clearly identify the 12V
supply wire
, you can run a test wire from the battery positive to
the coil positive wire. Use a tap-on and make sure both the coil
and igniter get 12V when you connect to the battery. That should
be enough to see if the engine runs or not. If it runs, find out why
you don't get 12V when you turn the key on, and fix it :)
