Stripped Strut Casing
Stripped Strut Casing
My strut casing where the gland nut screws in is stripped, so I can't get my gland nut on properly. Has anybody has this issue before, and if so, how did you fix it? I assume I would need to re-tap it, however I don't know the thread pitch.
Re: Stripped Strut Casing
Check this link: http://sp-tec.com/shop/23_4.html. They sell replacement strut sleeves that have the oem threads.
After looking at their options the thread pitch is either m48p1.5 or m48p1.0 (not sure which). Hopefully someone else knows and can chime in. Either way that's going to be a very expensive tap assuming there's even one available. If it can't be fixed you may need to get a another strut casing, or just buy the kit from sp tec.

This looks like a replacement option. I more so looking for a fix solution, preferably.

Re: Stripped Strut Casing
Are you replacing the stock oil filled struts with gas shocks?
I'm thinking you can use some shallow bolts. But there must be a better way. Do you feel like cutting and welding??

I can't weld. I'm replacing with KYB struts.
