help with getting my ae86 on the road. ty!
Okay so I have been doing my ae86 project for quite some time now. *cough* 3 years *cough* Finally its about time I get her on the road now that I had bought a gts body. I spent my summer so far moving everything over from my rust bucket of an sr5 body to the gts. My sr5 body had a gts swap and not a very clean one at that. I had gotten the swap to run and idle before I moved everything over. My issue is that I have a no start condition now. However when I go and disconnect the connector to the fuel pump it will start and idle. Now the engine has no coolant so i'm not letting it run for too long but as far as I can see it will continue to idle until I connect the fuel pump connector and it will stall. The injectors are new, fuel filter, and fuel pump. Previously I had hot wired an external fuel pump in the sr5 body and it idled and revved up with no problems with the same swap. I haven't checked for any codes yet and I do have my check engine light on when I have key on. This week I'm going to hot wire the fuel pump and see if that solves my problem. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated, as always thanks for taking your time to help a fellow toyota enthusiast.

Are we talking about the FP that lives inside the GTS tank ? If so,
which connector are we talking about ? The one that lies on the trunk
floor under the mat ? Or another plug somewhere else ?

First I would like to thank you for your insight, its greatly appreciated. Second yes the fuel pump that lives inside of the tank and the connector going to the fuel pump itself I believe it is the connector im the trunk from the body harness
. I'm stumped because the engine shouldn't be able to idle with the fuel pump not connected but it does. I was thinking maybe some residual pressure might still be in the lines but it seems unlikely to me.

Re: help with getting my ae86 on the road. ty!
how long did you have it disconnected?
In the mean time, fill your coolant system w. water at least. More time to diagnose, and you get to flush your system somwhat.

I would estimate about 5 mins at most but your right I will definetly fill it with water for more time to diagnose.
